Creation story
SPEEDiagnostix solved a problem for Joe Gibbs Racing's Motocross team and built a service anyone can use.
When the team changed from Yamaha to Suzuki, the riders struggled with clutch consistency, so they reached out to Lake Speed Jr to analyze their oils to find the right blend. After working with SPEEDiagnostix, JGRmx solved the inconsistent clutch performance and that increased their rider's confidence, which increased the teams performance. Today, that same problem solving power and driving confidence is available to you.
SPEEDiagnostix evolved from one family’s experience in the racing industry.
Recognizing the need for fast turnaround used oil analysis, the Speed family founded SPEEDiagnostix to provide expedited, expert used oil analysis services. Tailored to meet the unique needs of racers, enthusiasts, engine builders, performance parts manufacturers and classic car owners, SPEEDiagnostix provides data and analysis that draws from decades of racing, engine building, oil blending and used oil analysis experience.
Lake Speed Sr is a former NASCAR driver and World Karting Champion. Lake Speed Jr is a Certified Lubrication Specialist and Oil Analyst. SPEEDiagnostix combines the passion and experience of the Speed family into a service focused on quickly delivering to our customers valuable information about the health of the oil and equipment being sampled.

Cutting-Edge Technology
During WWII, the US Navy pioneered used oil analysis to know when aircraft could go into battle or go to the maintenance shop. Today, Formula 1 teams rely on used oil analysis at the race track, and you can drive with that same winning confidence as Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton or those aviators of old.

Our Founder
One of the world’s foremost Tribologists (the study of Friction, Wear and Lubrication), Lake Speed Jr. holds multiple certifications from the Society of Tribologists & Lubrication Engineers. Lake also formulated the lubricants used by Joe Gibbs Racing (and other professional teams) to win the Daytona 500 and numerous NASCAR championships.
Lake founded SPEEDiagnostix to bring that championship winning knowledge to car enthusiast like you, and provide reports written in plain English (a chemistry degree is not required).

This sets SPEEDiagnostix apart from other labs. There are lots of places that can test oil, but do they know factory Porsche engines from the early 2000’s feature Lokasil cylinders, which changes the wear metal profile of these engines? While local labs are great if you need to analyze the used oil from your Caterpillar Bulldozer, they are not the best choice if you have an 8,000 RPM V8.
